Dr. Paul St. George of LMU visited NMC on Friday 28th Sept to meet our MA Photography, MA Digital Film & Animation and MA (by Project) students.

Paul discussed the Research Methodologies modules and presented samples of LMU graduates ‘major projects.’

Our HND and HNC students have got off to a flying start with many assignments, projects, films, photo shoots, theatre productions, digital effects already under way. Students from different courses are already interacting to co-produce creative works.

BTEC HND courses – Progression Routes

Our BTEC HND courses are an excellent entry point for full-time employment.

Employers appreciate the level of work undertaken by HND graduates to produce professional portfolios and to achieve Distinction grades. In our experience employers regularly choose BTEC HND over traditional degree graduates due to a greater level of employable skills and the ability to integrate seamlessly into the workforce.

Our 2yr HND courses can also be followed up with a 1yr Hons Degree. This is a highly flexible student-centred route to third-level success.

End-of-Year Results

Our 2012 graduates have achieved a high number of Distinction and Merit grades in both BTEC HND and FETAC courses.

Many graduates have already secured their first-choice third-level places (including 1yr BSc Hons) at Colleges in Ireland and abroad including DCU, Colaiste Dhulaigh and Ballyfermot College.

We are currently preparing our new BTEC Higher National Certificate programmes to begin in Sept.

Our Student Showcase 2012 is taking place Wed 23rd May 18.00 – 21.00hrs.
Refreshments will be served and entertainment will be provided by resident DJ. This event is free, but ticket only – please email info@nationalmediacollege.ie to book.

Erasmus Exchange with the European School of Visual Arts

We are delighted to announce we have established inter-institutional arrangements for the Erasmus exchange programme for 2012/13 with the European School of Visual Arts Angoulême/Poitiers.

EESI prepares students for the French equivalent of the BFA (the three-year Diplôme National d’Arts Plastiques) and MFA (the Diplôme Supérieur d’Expression Plastique). The disciplines offered  – comic art, digital art, emerging practices – put the emphasis on exploring the relations between thought, criticism, the production of visual works and research.

Our post-grad courses will be open for Erasmus exchange applications.

New BTEC Higher National Certificates at NMTC

We are launching an exciting range of 1yr Higher National Certificate programmes this year. HNC’s are excellent conversion courses and act as ‘feeder’ courses for HND and degrees.

Showcase Update

We had an excellent showcase of work just before the Christmas break. Students performed live theatre, presented films, photography, journalism, games design and 3D works in progress. We will publish some of their work soon.

Works in Progress

Things are getting busy here with acting auditions, location photo shoots, studio shoots, magazine launch, 3D digital effects production, drama rehearsals, interactive narrative discussions and in-depth one-to-one feedback meetings with every student.

Assignments for 2012 have been published on the Student Portal.

Students will be hosting a 2-day Showcase of ‘Works in Progress’ in December. Live drama, 3D design, films, photography, music and animation.

MA by Project

Our new MA By Project offers a variety of specialist opportunities for study within a context of multi and interdisciplinary debate on issues within design, applied arts, visual culture. The program is appropriate for the development of professional practice as well as preparation for further study.

This course is accredited by London Metropolitan University.

Registration Days for Academic Yr 2011-12

Course Registration for the academic year 2011-12 will take place tomorrow Thurs 29th and Fri 30th September. Call in any time to the Admin Office to complete your course registration and collect your NMTC Student ID & Login codes.

Our BTEC HND programmes include Photography, Film, Journalism, 3D Design and Computer Games Animation, our FETAC programmes include Film, Photography, Music Technology and Interactive Media Technology.

 

Full-time Course Places Still Available

There are no CAO points requirements for all our full-time courses. Interview only.
We are currently interviewing for all BTEC HND and FETAC courses. Please contact us at info@nmtc.ie to arrange an interview. Our 2yr BTEC HNDs are work-related qualifications built to accommodate the needs of employers and allow progression to Uni. They can be topped up with a 1yr Hons Degree.

Student Transfer

We have confirmed a bi-lateral agreement with the ENS Louis Lumière school, Paris to facilitate student transfer between our institutions. We are arranging similar agreements with other schools including the School of Visual Arts, New York.
