BTEC HND in Performing Arts
Our new BTEC HND in Performing Arts starting Sept 2012 at NMTC. This course is 2yrs full-time and can be followed up with a 1yr (Hons) Degree.
The collaborative nature of all NMTC courses ensures that Performing Arts students will work extensively with film, photography, 3D and games animation students to create exciting audiovisual works.
Students will work with industry professionals to develop a high-spec performance portfolio including digital showreel and web site.
3D Modeling for Games and Unity3D Game Design
New short course starting soon - 3D Modeling for Games and Unity3D Game Design.
Includes,
Creating basic assets in 3D Studio Max and exporting to the Unity3D Game Engine
Materials
Cameras, lights, colliders, particle systems and physics.
Prefabs and Packages Setting up 2D game GUI (GUIText and GUITexture)

We have updated the Photography Students page with showcase work. A whole host of new students are up there now!
Showcase Update
We had an excellent showcase of work just before the Christmas break. Students performed live theatre, presented films, photography, journalism, games design and 3D works in progress. We will publish some of their work soon.
Postgraduate Courses 2012
Digital Effects Master classes @ NMTC December 2011
Digital effects expert John O’Connell will be delivering 2 * 3hrs master classes at NMTC in December.
The classes are titled ‘High End Visual Effects for Film and TV using Desktop Software’.
John recently worked as 3D Technical Director on HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ and the Glenn Close / Jonathan Rhys Meyers starring 2011 feature ‘Albert Nobbs’.
Works in Progress
Things are getting busy here with acting auditions, location photo shoots, studio shoots, magazine launch, 3D digital effects production, drama rehearsals, interactive narrative discussions and in-depth one-to-one feedback meetings with every student.
Assignments for 2012 have been published on the Student Portal.
Students will be hosting a 2-day Showcase of ‘Works in Progress’ in December. Live drama, 3D design, films, photography, music and animation.
MA in Film Production
New MA in Film Production starts Feb 2013.
The course encourages students to locate their work within the growing range of documentary, dramatic and experimental filmmaking and to extend the emerging visual grammars of those genres.

Digital Photography and DSLR Cameras
New Short Course starting this month.
Learn about DSLR HD camera operation, Lightroom and Photoshop software, tethered shooting in the studio, printing using archival quality inkjet printer, portfolio presentation and how to publish images online.

Our new MA By Project offers a variety of specialist opportunities for study within a context of multi and interdisciplinary debate on issues within design, applied arts, visual culture. The program is appropriate for the development of professional practice as well as preparation for further study.

NMTC to offer 6 MA programmes – accredited by London Metropolitan University
We are delighted to announce that NMTC has been accredited to deliver 6 MA programmes accredited by London Metropolitan University - starting 2012. We will begin accepting applications for these courses in the coming weeks.
The London Met Uni validation panel commended the NMTC team for its highly innovative and professional approach to teaching and continued success in both local and international markets.
British Science Festival – Update
We are just back from the British Science Festival – Faster Than the Speed of Light event which was held at Bradford College.

The NMTC lecture was titled ‘How new media technology impacts on communication, story-telling traditions, senses of place and identity in emerging nations.’
This was followed by a fascinating overview of digital cameras (since 1980) by Phase One camera supplier Chris Ireland. Chris supplies the high-end Phase One cameras to many top photographers in the UK.
