Qualification
Participants, on satisfactory completion of the course and any related assignments, will be awarded a Profile of Achievement Certificate in Digital Photography and DSLR Cameras from City & Guilds.
Total Course Time
12 hours tutored training - 3 hours per week for four weeks. Participants should allow a further 3 hours per week for assignment / revision.
Course Description
NMTC photography tutors are industry professionals who have received numerous awards for their photographic work.
Participants will be introduced to the Digital SLR camera. They will learn about camera lenses, digital formats and metering systems. Different focal-length lenses for the DSLR camera will be demonstrated along with their effects on shutter speed, depth of field and exposure. Participants will be also introduced to digital imaging software. They will learn how to process, digitally manipulate and retouch their images in leading applications such as Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Adobe Lightroom 3.5.
Photographic Studio Work.
Use of studio flash lighting and light modifiers will be demonstrated along with the use of a hand held light meter. Tethered shooting technique using iMac computer and Adobe Lightroom software will be demonstrated during the studio session. Participants will shoot a number of studio portraits. Participants will also cover finishing techniques using digital imaging applications, printing using archival quality inkjet printer, portfolio presentation and how to publish images online.
Project Work
Participants will work (supervised) on continuing studio and digital manipulation projects.
